PSOT’s mission is to assist individuals and families subjected to torture and war trauma to rebuild healthy, self-sufficient lives and to contribute knowledge and testimony to global efforts to end torture. Since its inception in 1995, the program has cared for more than 3,000 men, women and children from over 80 countries.
In 2003, Absolute Travel President Ken Fish joined the PSOT Advisory Board. Ken recalls, "My introduction to PSOT was circumstantial, but I was struck by the great need of the survivors, and the resilience, hope and results I observed in them." PSOT's director and biggest champion, Dr. Keller, agreed the program was the perfect fit for Ken. "Ken is a model of integrating his life's work with social conscience. Ken's awareness from his travel experiences and understanding of the international issues give him humility and cultural sensitivity. He's been on the Advisory Board since the beginning, guiding our mission, vision and work strategically. In the darkest of times, particularly the economic meltdown, he still contributed to our program. That is the measure of the man."
Since joining the PSOT Advisory Board in 2003, Absolute Travel has donated an Absolute Travel journey to their annual fundraiser each year, which has generated over $35,000 for the cause.
