THE LAND OF MORNING CALM   10 days
Seoul, Mt. Seorak, Gyeongju, Daegu, Jeju Island

South Korea is steeped in history and natural abundance, and this comprehensive program touches on its many highlights. Begin in the capital city of Seoul and visit Changdeok Palace, Gyeongbok Palace, and the National Museum. Also explore the narrow streets of Insadong Alley, a neighborhood known for its antique and handicraft shops. Drive through the picturesque countryside to Mt. Seorak National Park, with its towering craggy peaks, waterfalls, forests, hiking trails, mysterious temples, and remote hermitages. Continue to Gyeongju, an open-air treasury of ancient relics and architectural wonders. Visit the treasured Bulguksa Buddhist Temple, Gyeongju National Museum, and the World Heritage-listed Seokguram Grotto. Tour Mt. Gaya National Park and the impressive Haeinsa Temple before overnighting in Daegu. Next fly to the sub-tropical island of Jeju, whose extinct volcano dominates the landscape. Sightseeing here boasts exquisite waterfalls, quaint thatched-roof houses, lava and rock formations, as well as huge subterranean caverns. Return to Seoul for an overnight stay before your international departure.
