Some people want to actually pet the lions, ride on the backs of elephants, and run after the rhinos. This trip has been created expressly for them, with experiences that allow visitors to interact with some of the creatures of southern Africa. Start at Camp Jabulani, a lodge that has become home to a friendly herd of elephants. In addition to spending time with the pachyderms, guests will visit the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center, one of the leading private research facilities for threatened species. From Camp Jabulani, transfer to Phinda Forest Lodge, where you will participate in a rhino-darting expedition. After two days, transfer to the Phinda Forest Lodge to start your leopard research. Monitoring their movements allows conservationists to help protect these beautiful felines. From Phinda, fly back to Cape Town and take a day trip to the Spier wine farm to enjoy the local wine and check out the cheetah center – you may even get to pet the baby cheetahs! From Cape Town, collect your rental car and head out on a self-drive tour of the Garden Route, one of South Africa’s most scenic drives, concluding in lovely Plettenberg Bay. The trip ends at Victoria Falls, where you will not only tour the mighty waterfalls but enjoy some time walking and playing with the adorable lion cubs.
