This itinerary combines the touring highlights of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Begin your journey in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Depart on a scenic drive to Samarkand, known as the Rome of the Orient and visit various sites including the Bibi Khanum Mosque and the Mausoleum of Tamerlane. Explore the charming city of Bukhara, one of the best places in Central Asia for a glimpse of pre-Russian Turkestan. Drive through the Kyzylkum Desert to Khiva, an old Silk Route oasis city. Enjoy an excursion to the Ayazkala and Toprakkala settlement ruins. Cross over to Turkmenistan and enjoy a full day in Ashghabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. Venture to Merv, the oldest and best-preserved oasis cities in the country. The remains in the vast oasis span 4,000 years of human history. Drive to Bukhara and continue touring this enchanting historical city before concluding your trip in Tashkent.
