DAY 1: ARRIVE PAPEETE Upon arrival in Papeete on the island of Tahiti, you will be met and transferred to the Intercontinental Resort Tahiti for a two-night stay. DAY 2: MOOREA EXCURSION After a leisurely morning, set out for a half-day tour of Moorea Island. Board the high-speed ferry for the half-hour trip to Moorea; you will be at the dock in Moorea for a privately guided jeep safari that includes lunch at the Moorea Pearl Resort. Along the way, visit an agricultural school, walk through pineapple plantations (and sample the fruit!), see the ancient marae stone temples, and absorb the breathtaking views from a couple of the most scenic lookouts. Polynesian legend declares that Moorea was formed as the second dorsal fin of the fish that became Tahiti. With its volcanic mountain ridges, hidden waterfalls, lush interior valleys, and opalescent lagoons that fringe the island, many consider Moorea the most beautiful of French Polynesia's islands. Return by ferry to Papeete and your resort later this afternoon. (B,L) DAY 3: PAPEETE - TIKEHAU This morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Tikehau, an atoll of pink sand beaches and bountiful marine life. There are so many fish in Tikehau's lagoon, which is 16 miles across, that Jacques Cousteau's research group declared that it contained the highest concentration of fish in all of the Tuamotu atolls. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort for a two-night stay. This rustic resort offers incomparable seclusion in a stereotypically deserted South Seas paradise. Tikehau is unusual both because of its isolation and location on a low-lying coral atoll, which is radically different from the mountainous islands you will be visiting next. (B,D) DAY 4: TIKEHAU Enjoy this morning at your leisure. This afternoon, set out for a motu picnic on a secluded islet. You will learn traditional fishing techniques, using coral as a weight, to catch your lunch. Don't worry too much about your luck – the seafood will be supplemented by an array of tasty additional delicacies! (B,L) DAY 5: TIKEHAU – BORA BORA You will be transferred to the airport today for your flight to the famed island of Bora Bora. Perhaps no other island on earth has inspired the poetic musings that Bora Bora has; its very name conjures up images of tropical paradise. Upon arrival, you will be transferred by boat to the Hotel Bora Bora for a three-night stay. (B) DAY 6: BORA BORA The Hotel Bora Bora, an Aman property, is the easily the island's most exclusive property. Routinely playing host to visiting dignitaries and celebrities, the Hotel Bora Bora occupies the most desirable location on Bora Bora, Explore the spectacular bays, crystalline water, and white sand beaches on the surrounding islands, or simply relax on your own slice of beachfront at this ultra-luxurious resort. (B) DAY 7: BORA BORA Your guide will meet you for a private half-day tour that includes a stroll through the charming village of Vaitape. Continue on, setting out to circle the island, passing through colorful villages beside the incredibly unique multi-colored lagoon. Stop at various archaeological sites and scenic lookouts before returning to the Hotel Bora Bora for an afternoon at leisure. (B) DAY 8: BORA BORA – TAHA'A Today, you will be met and transferred to a helicopter that is waiting to transfer you to Le Taha'a Private Island & Spa. Located just off the island of Taha'a, also known as the “Vanilla Island,” Le Taha'a is the undisputed jewel in the crown of French Polynesian resorts. Enjoy two nights of pure luxury at this stunning new resort. (B) DAY 9: TAHA'A Today is at leisure to relax in your private piece of paradise or to participate in the range of activities offered at Le Taha'a. You may want to take advantage of the Manea Spa, where you can indulge in treatments like the Monoi Pape Miti, a healing massage treatment performed in the lagoon itself. (B) DAY 10: TAHA'A – PAPEETEDEPART TAHITI After a leisurely day, you will be transferred to nearby Raiatea Island by private boat. Though your departure from French Polynesia looms, the rich teak and mahogany woodwork on this beautiful watercraft should offer some degree of comfort and solace. Upon arrival, board your plane for the short flight to Papeete, where you will connect with your onward international flight. (B) |
